It started in March 2018 and lasted until September 2018.
Throughout the project, apart from working on the activities given by the project manager, students were also working on separate activities in the school and their community.
In the following article we'll describe the project step by step and you can see how our students integrated them in the school and their life.
These are the aims of the project:
To find out what schools are doing around the world on 'Zero Waste'
Record where these schools are on the World Map
Uncover the ideas schools have to help towards solving this problem
To find out how this project links to the Sustainable Development Goals
For schools to spread the knowledge of the importance of 'Zero Waste' to their own homes, every day life and that of their local community
Schools outside of Europe to also be included in this project
We did the following activities:
1. Schools pinpointed their location on the World Map (April 2018)
2. Students to created ‘Mind Maps’ showing what they think Zero Waste is & publish these on TwinSpace (April-May 2018)
3. Discuss & record the Sustainable Development Goals that are being addressed (May/June)
4. Photos of ‘Waste’ in each schools local environment (May- Sept)
5. Create class recycling bins and record how much is there for 1 day and then 1 week. (May- Sept))
6. Create Posters for ‘Zero Waste’ & say where displayed, school, local community (May-September))
7. Art work from each school using non-recycling materials (May- September)
8. Slogans/poems written linked to ‘Zero Waste’ (May - September
9. World Map with pictures of art work linked to Zero Waste from each of participating schools, displayed in own school and published on TwinSpace (une-September)
10. Pupils evaluation of project and next steps. June-September)
11. Teachers evaluation (June-September)
There were appointed places in the school for collecting old paper and used plastic. After that students made different crafts from them, that were used to enrich the teaching resources in lessons. Also some of the paper was used for making Easter decoration which were then sold in the school bazaar. The money from the decoration were used as a donation.
Some of the students used their creativeness to make food decorations so that the children will be interested in eating healthy food and leave less food waste.
